BUGGING AROUND

I sometimes post a lot about nature and my love of it,and usually it is about animals and shrooms and such,But today it is about bugs..I know.., I know... they are kinda creepy and stuff,But they are really cute if you really look at them..well most of them are..I guess....I really sound like I am trying to convince myself of that..cuz I ain't no bug lady...lol..But here is some that I found in my yard and on my steps, they are just unusual, and are amazing how they are made.We have an amazing creator... This guy or gal is what we call a jar fly,he was just sitting on my steps waiting for me to take a shot of him..

He is kinda pretty for a bug..don't you think???

This one is a lot bigger than he looks,he is BIG for a bug..

He was kinda creepy,but interesting..

I have no idea what this shoe shiny guy is..but he shines like hubby's shoes..
This one is called a June bug,or at least that is what we called it growing up,but they really don't show up until July....go figure....as we were growing up(remember there is 15 of us bros and sises)we would tie a string to their leg and they would just fly around as we were holding the string,it was fun to do that then, but it sounds cruel now..we couldn't afford much at all especially toys,so we had to find our own entertainment.

Praying Mantis, she kinda looks like an alien.I guess it is a she.
I wonder how you can tell??...without her killing the him!!!
I read that the mantis eats other bugs around the yard and garden that destroys our flowers and garden goodies..so see they aren't so bad.. our little helpers we didn't know we had ...
Bugs are nature to,it takes us and them to make it all work ..

  1. The praying mantis is pretty! But I don't like jar flies at all, they are weird looking.

  2. I tried to keep an open mind, but I still don't like bugs! Your pictures are very good though.
I don't think of a praying mantis as a bug...I have no idea why.

  5. The first bug looks like a Cicadia(sp?) Typically they live their entire life in a tree. They are the ones that sing from the trees.

I don't mind bugs, I really like all the different species of bees but I can't stand spiders, they move so creepy, YUCK!

I don't care for the locust kind of bugs, to see their carcasses left behind on the trees, give me goosebumps ;)
