MANY CHANGES GOING ON

Hubby and I went for a Rhino ride deep in the Big Woods yesterday,It was so warm and beautiful with all the colors of fall..This is so deep in the Big Woods that it was kinda eerie..Hubbys' uncles and great uncles and grandpas and so on did a little moonshining..Yep did some shine...Well I guess everybody that ever lived here in the old days had someone connected to moonshining...so they had to walk and have pack mules to carry all the supplies to these places..You sure couldn't get a car back in there...But all that is left now are some old pieces of tin and some rocks stacked up where they had the fire...Well nobody shines anymore...well maybe not..or maybe they do...I don't know..I guess somebody does...But not me of course...While riding along we spotted this beautiful owl,he flew from one tree to another and I got a shot of him,It's probably not the best shot but i did get a shot of the beauty..click to enlarge Remember all the bright colors in my yard a few days ago???well the leaves have drastically changed and are really falling off fast..The Blue jays have been very busy..they have been eating like crazy..makes me dizzy just watching them..I put some corn on an old stump under one of my feeders so they all can eat..The squirrels are plentiful here..Many many years ago people use to hunt and eat them..I just couldn't..There are some older people that live in the community that can't get out and hunt anymore,so the younger ones hunts and takes whatever is in season to the older ones....Now this huge guy was just out of our yard today eating what was left of the green bushes and saplings..He was a pretty big Elk....I snuck through the woods to try and get a better pic of him, he had bedded down and I startled him because of the noise from me in the leaves,So all I got was the tail end of him....And this fuzzy little guy was on the porch.I thought he was very unique...But I couldn't find his eyes....I don't know how he sees, unless he just feels.....

But you know he is kinda cute.....You can enlarge to see him better...

Maybe he feels with those whiskers...Or maybe he was just upset with me with the camera in his face....who knows.....

Take care all and have a great weekend......

  2. Gorgeous pics, as usual! The owl is beautiful, but my fave is the one below him, of the fence. It's so beautiful! It could be a puzzle picture!

  4. Wow you have a lot of critters there! Love seeing them all, thanks so much for sharing. I especially liked seeing the owl, I think he's a Barred Owl. Beautiful. We have different varieties here and I always love hearing them at night. I checked with my entomologist brother and he told me that he thinks your wolly moth friend is an Agreeable Tiger Moth. Very interesting looking isn't he?! Looks like he uses the same barber as Cousin It.
