HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN ??????

My mom always plants her patty pan squash in her garden every year,well this year mom and dad noticed that some of the little( squashes)looked kinda odd,well turns out they have three different kinds of squash or is it a zucchini,or is it a pumpkin??? it is all three growing on one plant,and they are all white.....WHAT HAPPENED??????
