I would love to go back in time just to see who lived at all these old home places that we find, and see their gardens and just the way they lived..
This is a close up of the chimney, you can see where they used mud between the rocks..
I don't think they use this anymore..
Just above the chimney in the woods aways was an old hog pen,or that was what it looked like, and there was these really nice rocks that I could use in my landscaping and I told hubby hey I could use these, and he said um hum..that meant no way..but I wouldn't take them anyway because the next person wouldn't get to enjoy looking at them like we did today..
I guess they must've been from the chimney, just not sure, they were really nice and straight and even...
so along we go and we spotted some deer in the brush, they stood still long enough so I could get a pic of them,we saw about 7 today...
As we were going along we saw where a bunch of trees were cut down,So we stop to look..
These were pretty big trees...
Well it is getting pretty clear now to what it is...I guess you know by now...

Then we look over and see their house( it is in the center of pic) and where they raise their babies...

Then there is the dam..We have rode through here many times and this use to be just a small stream, and look at what they can do in such a short amount of time..I really think the Beavers are fascinating...

You can see the rain drops on the pine,I thought this was pretty.click to enlarge..
Then we get back home and there is all kinds of activity going on right in our yard,so we really didn't have to go anywhere to see nature it is right in front of us...This wild turkey was eating on the hillside going up the drive.
You have all kinds of creatures there don't you. The leaves really turned red here this year. Unfortunately I didn't get out this fall to take photos. Not like me at all. Maybe next year I'll do better. Looking at some of your previous post. Your photos are great. Well, turkey, turkey time is almost here. Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteYou live in the most beautiful area. Gonna have to camp near you some day and let you be my tour guide.
ReplyDeleteKeep the pics coming !!
You live in such a wonderful area, and always take the most beautiful pictures! I really loved seeing the old homestead too. Seeing things like this always makes me wish I could know who the former residents were, what they did, and where their descendants ended up. Always looking forward to seeing more.

I would have loved to have been there when you found the old chimney and rocks. Beautiful find! You have expert acrobatic squirrels too I see, they are fun to watch but really eat up the birdseed. I really enjoyed seeing the beaver's handiwork...did not know they made such huge dams.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the post Andora!
Wanda
That squirrel made me laugh out loud! I wonder how many meals where prepared in that old chimney bottom?? How interesting it would be to find out who lived there.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, uplifting photos! Andora, you are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful place, full of life!
ReplyDeleteThose huge stones may have been the foundation under a log cabin or house many moons ago. I know because I have some that were being given away when an old homestead was torn down.
I love the new header.
And wild turkeys, and deer and horses, oh my!
I can never get too much of this stuff!
Thanks for sharing.
I absolutely LOVE that pine cone picture! All of them are beautiful. I also love your turkey background!! How cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous ride - I really enjoyed coming along with you. Looks like you live in an area similar to ours. Sadly, we don't have a Rhino.
ReplyDeleteOh, what lovely photos! Thank you for visiting my blog and introducing me to yours! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat, Great Pictures!.... Tell me about the horses though ... Do they have owners?
ReplyDeleteYou still have a few pretty trees left. I can see across to the other ridge now ...still pretty though!
what a wonderful post! how interesting! and i love your blog banner. what kind of owl is that? little squirrel was cute...strange how the folks leave their horses unattended! love the old chimney...spooky!
ReplyDeleteOoh just love the ride...
ReplyDeleteI always think the same thing when I run across an old homestead, who once lived there, and where did they all go ? Sad really. I like to pick old daffodil bulbs left abandoned around old houses, I feel I am giving them renewed life, and just maybe their previous owners will see me doing it (from above) and smile;)
Lovely post...thanks for the ride !
andora, what happened to your award post 6 days ago?

ReplyDeleteReally nice photos! Thank you so much for the 'award' but I was unable to figure out how to post it to my blog and now I cannot find that post on your site! But thank you anyway!
