A DAY IN MY ORDINARY HAPPY LIFE!!!!!!!

It was such a pretty weekend and you know we had to go 4-wheelin,We loaded up the Rhino on the trailer this time and went 20 miles down the road,We went to where hubby was raised,The house below has been in his family for many many generations..Hubby didn't live in this house,Just his ancestors..If you enlarge the pic you can see where they came outside the one door of the house and went up the stairs to the bedrooms..This was very strange to me,especially in winter, but I guess they had their reason..They may of added this part later... It does look that way...But anyways this is a very old house..And it is still in hubbys' family.... Makes a pretty post card, or if there was snow a pretty Christmas card...My thoughts...

Look close to the middle of the picture, you can see the road, that was where we were before we got in the Rhino and climbed the mountain..We went even higher up than this..It was beautiful up there,so peaceful and quite,The wind was blowing a bit,you could smell the leaves, just the smell of being in the woods, just a perfect time to be where I was..

We stayed there for many many hours..just enjoying it all.....

There was some poke berries still hanging on....

Now back at the house,We had this little visitor,I think it is either a Grackle or a Blackbird of some kind,Whatever he is we were glad to have him..

And of course Shag the Cat had to be close by for a look...He is my cutie pie...

The squirrels are everywhere..I keep corn out for them so they don't eat all the bird seed up...

And Shag the cat watches everything...There are small round holes in the ground under the tree(I am not sure what is in them)But Shag the Cat sticks his paw in there after whatever it is..It may be Ground Squirrels..And you know how he likes to torment them..
I put this homemade jar feeder on the back deck,Hoping that the squirrels would find it and they did...It is really close to my window in the den at the back of the house..so I can watch them all winter...on those long winter days it will be nice to sit on my couch and watch the squirrels and birds..And the plate that is there had corn bread in it that I was gonna give the birds,But the next morning it was all gone,I think my little friend the raccoon got it....I sound like Ellie Mae Clampet....GOODNESSS....And also up from the squirrel feeder I have another feeder with sunflower seeds..and up from that hanging from my covered porch is my finch sock...If you have never bought one of these you are really missing out..It is filled with thistle seed when you buy it and then you refill it with thistle...so you can reuse it over and over...sometimes I have to throw it in the washer and wash it from those dirty little feet in winter..They love this sock...
They hang upside down, right side up,side ways, which ever way they get they can eat...so so cute...

Hope you all have a great rest of the week....Take care all....

I'm with you. There's nothing like a ride on a nice day. We've been riding the four wheelers.

  4. I loved the chimney of that rustic old family home Andora...going outside to get to the bedrooms was interesting, but no harder than going to an outhouse in the winter I guess. It's nice you can visit whenever you like. My great grandparents had similar homes in the mountains of Virginia.

I relate to your feeding of the wildlife and appreciating nature all year long. I too place birdfeeders close to special windows where I sit during the winter...I think we are birds of the same feathers so to speak! I love the Goldfinch, my sock feeder for them was shredded by a raccoon!

    Enjoy the season Andora,

  5. I love this post. Love everything about it. The old house is so cool. Made me wonder if my husband's mother's old house was still standing in south alabama. we have not been there in years and she was a little girl in that house. I love to see old homes. That is very neat that his is still in the family!
You have the best life! I love your blog because it is so uplifting.

  9. I love, love, love the old house. I wish we had one still in our family. There is a house up the holler I grew up that was built over a log house. They said my gr grandparents lived in it when it was a log house.

  10. I love that old house! I grew up in an old farmhouse that had winder stairs from the bedrooms to the kitchen, but I've never seen them going directly outside.

And you're right, the bird is a grackle.
