THE GOOD,THE BAD, THE UGLY

The Good::::Now if this aint good nothing is..Don't you wish you could sleep like that??Well...I guess not....it's not very lady like... I still have quite a few things blooming in our yard,and some plants are still thriving,like this fern and spike,and the trailing vine are still so pretty,The sweet potato plants that was in this pot along with these are already gone...when it frost they are history..but the frost doesn't hurt these plants to much...
My wonderful smelling rose is still blooming great,has quite a few buds still on it..

And the honey suckle is blooming and still smells so sweet..pretty nice for the middle of November..

The cannas that was under the shade of the maple was hidden from the frost,so it is still blooming to..

And this little mound is still doing it's best to hang on..

And this is Mistletoe.... click on pic and you can see the green balls of it way high in the tree...I don't think I will be climbing to get that no time soon...

It grows several different places.Like in trees on shrubs..
It is spread by birds feces..It is a parasitic plant...
So I don't think I want to kiss under that anymore unless it is plastic..
But it is still pretty to look at...We see it quite a bit here when we are out 4-wheelin.

BAD:::::
Do you remember a few post back when I posted about these pretty round shrooms???
Well here is what they turned into...puff balls or smoke bombs..You just touch them and they put off this green smoke...probably not safe to breath that...Good thing Shag the Cat wasn't with me,He would've had his nose in one.. click on pic to see them better..

And now the Ugly::
Hubby and I went for a ride past our Big Woods into the Bigger Woods,And this was what we found,The Bigger Woods had been burning for several days,It is so ugly what fire can do when it gets going..It burned a lot of acres...I always think of how many animal homes were lost and how many animals died...It takes a lot of time for the blackness to go away..But here in the mountains this is very common...But the animals do come back and rebuild just like we do...But it takes a while.....

All the leaves are all burned up and all that is left is burnt blackness...This really bothers me..especially if it was set on purpose....

Take care all and make it a good weekend.....

  1. I can't believe you still have flowers blooming. I remember those mushrooms from when I was a kid we called them 'puff balls." You can shoot down the mistletoe, my son does. I posted here about it last year

  2. Shag is really cute and lovable Andora.

    The roses seem to be hanging on here too , but that's about all, and no mistletoe for us either, not that I know of anyway. I loved the photo of the green smoke coming from the mushrooms...and sorry to hear of such a large area of woods burning.

  3. LOL at kitty!!! That's amazing that you still have such beautiful plants still in bloom. Mother nature is so amazing isn't she. I'm going to get rid of all my dead plants tomorrow if I have the energy. All those black eyed susans. LOL Hugs

  4. Oooh the fire is awful, and like you, the first thing I thought was what about the animals...
    I've seen mushrooms/toadstools puff smoke like that before, but didn't know what it was.
    Kitty is so sweet,I want to reach out and tickle his tummy ;)

  5. Looks like Shag the cat has his winter coat on.
    Here in south carolina the leaves have just started to turn. They are so pretty.
    Thanks for sharing your big woods. I love it as usual and your pictures are awesome.

  7. That's so sad about the fire - I hope it wasn't set deliberately.

  8. Not nice about the fire, but it does improve the woods - so they say. I have mixed feelings on that. Our woods haven't seen fire in years and years (thank you very much) and are quite thick and beautiful. So, I dunno....

    Where are we going next?
