we thought we had cracked feet...enlarge pic to see his..I wonder if I should put some lotion on them?????
Well anyway we got started on our adventure...Got to take my snacks..Hubby said you want an apple? But I had other things in my pockets, like packs of crackers and so on,you know noisy paper wrappers..
Hubby took me about a half a mile away from his stand to my ladder tree stand..He said we didn't need to be to close to each other......ok.......
Here is my first shot from the tree..I guess you know by now that the what I shot is from my camera..
The sun was starting to set..I had sat in the stand for an hour or so already..

Gosh guys it was so nice out there!!!!!But the sunset was all I got..didn't see anything...heard a lot of stuff..And it got dark and where was Hubby??? I was not gonna come down from there until He came for me...
He finally did and I ask did you see anything???He said yeah a lot of deer...did you?...not a thing....
It was amazing how I felt being there all alone,Yet I felt very safe up in that big tree..So safe that I nodded off a time or two......click on all the pics it is so pretty...

He ask do you want to get up at four a.m. and come back??I said yes I do....
So this morning He took me back to my stand way before daylight...I am here to tell you it was absolutely wonderful to be there that time of morning..Yeah it was pitched black...Here is the start of the sun rising in the Bigger Woods..(click on the pics to see it)...

By this time you could hear rustling in the leaves...
Then day broke......
Then the sun popped over the ridge....And I was scanning the whole area to see if I could see anything....
What a way to spend the morning...It was time for a cup of the hot chocolate that I had brought, and a few crackers to nibble on....
I had shivers to run up my spine..It wasn't really cold about 60 degrees..But just the morning air was a little damp feeling..so I snuggled in the small throw that I had brought...
So after it was good and daylight I sat in my stand until about 8:00..And all of a sudden these Grouse just flew right in front of me but still to far off to get a pic..I think the bunch of turkeys I heard (at least that is what I think it was)must of startled them..I got so sleepy that I looked on the ground at all those leaves laying down there that I thought I could climb down and just curl up on them with my blanket and sleep for just a bit....Then I thought of all the coyotes that I have heard in these woods..I decided not to.....
An old stump where someone got fire wood years ago.....I sat on this old stump for a very long time just looking and listening....The sun on my face was so warm.....The leaves smelled really nice....
And there was tons of holly bushes everywhere.....I'll come back here at Christmas and snip a few branches.....Time went by way to fast...By now it was 10:30....
Then I hear the Rhino coming it was Hubby..It was time to go...I didn't want my morning to be over....I ask did you see anything???...he said yeah lots of does....Did you????..no I didn't...Then he says the reason you have to be out here away from me is you are to noisy with your snacks and you turn your head to quick when you hear something, and you have perfume on ........hummm.....Hubby says you can't wear perfume deer hunting......Well why didn't you tell me........To noisy .......Whatever........
I hope you enjoyed my little hunting trip...even though I didn't get a shot of the deer or whatever other animals that was in the Bigger Woods that morning, I am so thankful to of had the chance to be there and just witness the woods come alive as day broke....
then about 8:30 I climbed down and decided to look around since no deer was coming by...And I took a few random shots....
This is an old tree that has been laying for quite some time..This was the end of it..It looked like a tree in a tree.....

Take care all my blogging friends!!!!!
Sounds like fun. Seems that hunting is a little like fishing, you have to have patience. I wouldn't be very good at it, I'd be making noises too and probably talking to the deer if any showed up, trying to get them to look at me so I could get a 'shot' of them. Our deer season doesn't start until next week.
ReplyDeleteB. took me a couple of times and I felt the same way about being in the woods. So quiet, except for the nature sounds. It was in the "big woods" (National Forest) and I loved it! Thanks for all the wonderful nature photos. And I would not grow tired of the Shag photos either.
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me to want to be in the tree stand when the first light of the morning hits the earth. Love your pictures :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a hunter. I came from a hunting family but my brothers never offered to take me along. I think they were probably afraid I'd warn the deer! After reading this, I'm considering getting my own tree stand, just to watch! I do have a sit spot where I go, but it's on the ground. Being in a tree sounds great...
ReplyDeleteHi Andora. Miss Daisy said yes, your kitty needs some corn huskers lotion on his little feet! She should know, hers are softer than a babies hiney! ha ha!
ReplyDeleteMuch Love, Dana and Daisy
Love the pitchers, and u can put some lotion on kitty but can kitty lick the lotion we do not want to make him sick. I go hunting with DH and he thinks I should stay home My first DH was killed in a hunting accident on 1/01/2000 so he does not want my in the woods and some time I have a bad time this time of year. but I love going with him
ReplyDeleteAndora, Our morning experiences in the dark are similar...I love your kind of shots!!! Isn't life in the woods great! Hope Shag's paws get better.
ReplyDeleteLuv and Smiles,

That is the best time of day ...waaaaiting for the sun to peek through! I love the sounds the woods make at night and early in the morning. More great pics! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThat is way too cool. If it was me up there I would fall asleep, start snoring and all the deer would run away. LOL Hugs!
