Hubby had some time off during Christmas,So we took advantage of it,By going into the woods as much as possible..There are lots of places here that we go in our Rhino 4-wheeling..
We went to this one holler that is called Bills Branch,we can ride all day in this place..
we saw some deer, and we were grouse hunting while the season was still in...well he grouse hunts I just look for stuff...He tells me to look for grouse and tell him if I see one, well I don't make a comment because I don't know if I could tell him,so I don't try to look for them...
We saw some tracks of one and he got out to track it...I was so hoping that it was gone...and it was..I know,I know I shouldn't be that way,But I don't say anything about his hunting and he don't say anything about my not hunting.....it works for us....

and these orange ones, there was some bright yellow ones to but I forgot to take a picture...
But all in all we had a great day out....I have decided to buy a new camera,I am not happy at all with my zoomed in pics, they are always a little fuzzy,so I have been checking on line to see what is out there with good zoom and affordable...so maybe in the near future I will have better pics...
I love to watch them all,but my most favorite is the cardinal(we call him a red bird).
I have a lot of things in my house that has pretty red birds on them.
There was 4-6 pairs in the trees...
I think the female is very fancy looking, even though the male is prettier..
Not a bad idea!!!!!!
I hope all has a good rest of the week!!!!!
All I can say is Thank God my husband doesn't hunt! I don't know if I could eat the critters anyway. I do like deer meat though and we have friends who sometimes hunt on our property. We have a Mule that we love to ride all around where we live. Don't you just feel like you are on a vacation when you are out riding around? I know we do! Your pictures are fantastic! I also call them red birds most of the time! lol The last picture of yours are golden fenches. They actually turn a brownish green color for the Winter. That is the ones who stay here and don't fly south.
ReplyDeleteSchool has been closed again for tomorrow! I made it out today to stock up for Thursday's Arctic blast we are supposed to get!
Stay warm!
Angela
Your pictures are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I'm not real happy with my camera too. But funds are low so I'll have to make do. I do agree with Shag the Cat.

I have loads of those birds in the last picture, I am not sure if they are Vireos or Yellow Finches. I too love the Cardinals. They looks so pretty up against the white snow. I wish I had a Nikon D40. Your photos are great!
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures. I think cardinals are sooooo pretty! I like the female ones, too.
ReplyDeleteHi Andora...love your Cardinal, Nuthatch, Finch, and Chickadee photos and of course the one of Shag. We had a female Cardinal collide with our upper window and die, well, her mate would walk around and around her, nudging her as if trying to help her up. He remained by her for quite awhile.
ReplyDeleteI just took a 2 hour walk in the woods, with many layers of clothes! I'll blog about it with my next post.
Enjoy the cold!

I spent some time trying to get a good picture of the ten blue jays that come visit me every day, they are fast little rascals.

ReplyDeleteYour cardinal pictures are awesome!!! And let's not forget how adorable Shag is...Hope y'all are keeping warm in this weather...
ReplyDeleteI was delighted to run across your blog today. It is charming and your photography is gorgeous. I take pictures of birds all the time. My husband stopped hunting when me moved to the Midwest from Texas, although the deer here are much larger. I'm glad he did; I tired of eating strange meat. Did you photograph those elk close to your home? When we drove through Kentucky we saw elk crossing signs on the way to Knoxville, and a black bear running along the highway! We've vacationed in Kentucky once and enjoyed hiking. The woods are very beautiful there. So I've become a follower. Looking forward to more news from Kentucky. Please visit me if you get a chance.

ReplyDeleteLovely pics! I think the birds with the bits of yellow on them might be goldfinches--is that maybe their winter coat? I'm not sure.
