The sights of spring
We have been very busy for the past few months doing stuff around our house and in our house..I have this ole railroad tie stuck in the ground and made a flower bed around it and just put homemade bird houses all over it,I will add a few more as I find them at yard sales and flea markets...well anyway one of the houses on top has a bluebird nesting in it...
I watch them daily,I am not sure if the male is bring food to the female while she sits on the eggs or it is the other way around...And also I have to keep an eye on Shag the Cat cause you know what he will do.....
I was in the Big woods by my house the other day and look what I found growing..My sister says this is called a Lady Slipper...she said they are hard to find and that I was lucky to have it growing so close to my house..
This guy has been around all winter and he still visits almost daily to eat the lunch I put out for him..His other 3 companions haven't been back since earlier this spring....I guess they are chasing girls...

I have a lot of the bearded Iris blooming around the yard, they are one of my favorites..If anyone would like to trade some with me this fall I would be glad to swap some of mine for some of yours...

Andora...we are so much alike, it's scary. I love your birdhouse idea, we were thinking of doing something similar, now I know how nice it could be.
ReplyDeleteLast year you found an Indian's Pipe and now a Lady's Slipper...very special finds! Love your Iris too!

Gorgeous pictures, Andora! Especially the clematis- I remember my grandmother had beautiful clematis growing around her front porch. Thanks for the memory!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and I love the bird house ideal !
ReplyDeleteI love the lady slipper, I don't think I've ever seen one. I love iris's and have many of them, too. My white ones didn't open this year, I think a freeze hurt them right before they bloomed out. I love your bird house pole. We have bird houses all over our yard and every one of them is in use by one type of bird or another.
