It has been a long time since I have posted..A lot of things have happened,My two sons got married within a month of each other, one of them deployed to Afghanistan..hubby has been building a garage..and I have a pet Raccoon named Lucy..Her mom was killed on the road and she was left behind..so some friends of mine ask if I would take her and since we are empty nesters I said sure..
My son loves her,and he don't have to much to do with wild animals..
My niece is like me she loves all animals...well except coyotes...
We fed her puppy formula until she got big enough to drink regular milk like we do..
And she eats like a pig now and eats almost anything...
I take her for walks to the big water hole where all the frogs are and she has
a wonderful time just feeling around for some grub..
yes I know they are destructive, but she needed some help and I helped her out..
I will release her when she is old enough..but until then I will enjoy her soft little
paws rubbing my hands and her sweet little cuddle sounds she makes when she sees and hears me...
well until next time have a good day all day long!!!!
I've missed you Andora, but knew you were busy with the weddings. Was Lucy friendly right away or did you have to win her over? I have a photo of baby raccoons on my latest post too.
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteoh how sweet!! my husband, dogs and cats would not allow me such a pleasure! keep us posted on her...glad to see you post again!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your back. We use to raise raccoons. They are nice and sweet when they are young and tame. But, when they get to the breeding age? Wow! Expecially the males, they get aggressive. I love them like crazy, just be careful!
ReplyDeleteWanda she was pretty good from the beginning because my friends had her for a while, and they had her pretty petted in..
ReplyDeleteKritter Keeper and Farm girl I have missed my blogging and all of your alls blogs..will catch up though
Wow Andora you sure have had a lot going on. That is so cool that you are raising a coon! I've only ever had them in my yard once that I know of! lol My dogs had an entire family of them stuck up in a tree a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteHope it's not as hot at your house as it is here!
I have always wondered how they would go as pets, we dont have them here in Oz, I have reared young kangaroos and possums (not the same as American ones). I found once I had hand reared they never went, always a bit of a problem.
ReplyDeleteWho can resist an animal in need; especially a baby! She is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteShe is sweet looking. How nice of you to look after her. My cousin said that my grandpa used to have a pet skunk.
ReplyDeleteHi Andora,
ReplyDeleteShe is soooooo cute! I'm sure when it comes time for her to leave her nest (hammock)it will be hard for both of you. Glad to hear that you are getting her ready for the day when she will leave, she will know what to do for food.
Congrats on your sons (both) weddings.
Hope you keep blogging .... I just love your photos!

I love the apple on your banner. I hope when you release the raccoon, she will be able to survive on her own. You may have a nightly visitor. This past week a momma raccoon and her 4 babies have been coming to our bird feeder. They are just adorable, and real pills!
ReplyDeleteGald to see you back....I love that little critter...they are so cute to me and I would love to have one but not sure I could let it go into the wild after raising it...
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! What a good idea making a little hammock for her.I think it`s our duty as humans to look after these orphaned animals, good job!Thank-you for stopping by my blog, you really lifted up my day,Andora, phylliso
