These peaches were so pretty hanging there on the trees that I really hated to pick all of them...I knew once I picked them then I couldn't go out and look at them anymore..so now I have to go to my pantry or the freezer and look..lol...
I had enough to can some and to make my favorite peach freezer jam..
Hoping to harvest quite a few apples this year to..last year the Elk ate all of them,so I have kept watch, and anytime they come around I make a lot of noise and run them off..so..so far so good..
Hope all is harvesting lots of goodies this year..hoping to make some salsa next week,my Dad has lots of( maters)that is what most of us call them here in the big KY..that is tomatoes to you who don't know what maters is..lol...anyways you all have a great weekend and have it all weekend long...
You just can't hardly sit still and eat it..
With the ones I canned I will make one of Hubbys favorites peach cobbler..

I canned 37 pints of peaches, but I had to buy them at the grocery store in lugs. I am so jealous of those beauties in the basket!
ReplyDeleteThe peach jam looks delicious, Andora. I made a blackberry/peach crisp a few days ago, which is my favorite dessert!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it just so satisfying to open the pantry door and see the fruits of your labour sitting there? Instant memories of the beautiful smell filling the kitchen as you bottled! And anticipation, too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours on those peaches, we are in winter still here so a long way until we have any, if the parrots leave any for us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Don't ya just love opening those jars in the middle of winter?
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish we could grow peaches here in northern Wisconsin. My apple trees this year are loaded and in a few weeks I will be harvesting them. I'm like you ~ you love admiring them on the tree and almost hate to pick them knowing you won't be seeing them hanging anymore. I'm still in awe of the elk you see. Are they native to the area or transplants?? We have some elk by us; but they have been reintroduced by the Department of Natural Resources.
ReplyDeleteYou're the only blogging friend I have who has to run the elk out of her yard! :D Gorgeous peaches!

ReplyDeleteFeel free to send some of that peach jam my way! We don't get good peaches in S Dakota...sure miss my mom and dad's peach shakes in summertime. Get them when I go home in Sept. but not this year. Anyway, yes I'm the one moving some day...it was going to be end of this yr but now not til after end of next year.
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks so good! How old are your trees ... We planted 3 of them 2 years ago ... and still nothing like that! What did you do for them to get such an abundant crop?
ReplyDeleteI'll send my address and put a chair out by the mailbox ...LoL!
Have a delicious week.

Your peaches are beautiful, grandma used to can peaches all the time. We have a pear tree which is doing pretty good this year. I'm still waiting for them to get a little bigger before I pick them, they make delicious pear jam. Maybe some day we will plant a peach tree.
